Cash on delivery for yoga mats: how it works and when to use it

Cash on delivery means you pay for your yoga mat when it arrives. We call to confirm, then you pay the courier. Limits, fees and refusal etiquette explained.

Sambu Frame mat partly rolled

Cash on delivery means you pay for your mat when it reaches your door, not when you order. With us, you choose cash on delivery at checkout, we call you to confirm the order before it is dispatched, and you pay the courier when the parcel arrives. It suits a first order with a maker you have not bought from before.

How our cash on delivery works

  1. Place the order. Choose your mat, select "Cash on delivery" at checkout, and enter your address and six-digit PIN code. No payment is taken.
  2. Take our call. Before dispatch, we phone to confirm the order and address. We only send a cash on delivery order once it is confirmed, so keep your phone close after ordering.
  3. We pack and dispatch. The mat is packed without plastic and handed to the courier. Keep your order reference: you can follow the order on our Track your order page, and we share the courier tracking number once it has been dispatched.
  4. Pay the courier. When the parcel arrives, pay the amount due. Have it ready so the handover is quick.

Online payment is being set up; cash on delivery is available now.

Limits and fees

Cash on delivery is available on orders up to a set value, on serviceable PIN codes, and a handling fee applies. The current limit and fee are on our Shipping page, so you always see the figures that apply on the day you order. If your order is above the limit or your PIN code is not covered, write to us through the Contact page and we will tell you what we can arrange.

When cash on delivery makes sense

It suits you if it is your first order with us, if you prefer not to pay online, and if you or someone you trust will be home to receive it. It suits you less if you are sending a mat as a gift to someone else's address, because they would be asked to pay.

A lighter, lower-priced mat such as the Sambu Frame, sambhu grass woven with GOTS-certified organic cotton, makes an easy first order. If you already know you want washable cotton, the Indico is our ribbed, indigo-dyed mat. Both have a thin layer of natural tree latex on the underside to hold on hard floors; if you are allergic to natural latex, choose with care and write to us first.

If you change your mind: refusal etiquette

Plans change, and that is fine. What helps is telling us early.

  • Before dispatch: you can cancel any order before it is dispatched. Say so on the confirmation call, or write to us.
  • After dispatch: please do not simply refuse the parcel at the door. It travels to you and back again, and for a small weaving workshop that cost is real. If a cash on delivery order is refused at the door, we may ask for prepayment on future orders.
  • If you will be away: tell us, or arrange for someone to receive it.

After it arrives

Open the parcel soon after delivery. If the mat is damaged or not what you ordered, tell us with photographs, as set out on our Returns page; unused mats in original condition can also be returned within the window given there. Refunds on cash on delivery orders are made by bank transfer to details you provide. Our article on returns and exchanges for handwoven goods explains what counts as a defect, and how to buy a yoga mat online in India covers the wider picture.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an extra charge for cash on delivery?

Yes, a handling fee applies to cash on delivery orders. The amount is listed on our Shipping page.

Why do you call after I place a cash on delivery order?
