Yes, GST applies to yoga mats sold in India, and every price on our site already includes it. The ₹4,499 shown for the Indico at the time of writing is the amount you pay; no tax is added at checkout or by the courier. We do not quote a GST rate or tariff heading here, because rates and classifications are decided by the GST Council and notified by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), and they can change; the official notifications are the place to check them.
What "inclusive of GST" means
When a price is inclusive of GST, the tax is already inside the number. You compare mats on the price you see, and the invoice merely shows how much of that price was tax. Our Terms page says it plainly: prices are in Indian rupees and include GST unless stated otherwise.
Some sellers, especially those who mostly supply businesses, list prices exclusive of GST and add it at the end. Neither way is wrong, but know which you are looking at before you compare a ₹1,999 mat with a "₹1,999 plus tax" mat. Our guide to yoga mat prices in India compares like with like, and our round-up of good mats under ₹2,000 uses inclusive prices throughout.
What your invoice shows
A GST tax invoice from a registered seller carries a fixed set of particulars. The CBIC's tax invoice rules require, among other things, the name, address and GSTIN of the supplier, a consecutive serial number, the date of issue, a description of the goods, the taxable value, the rate and amount of tax, and the signature of the supplier or an authorised representative. If you are a registered business, your own name, address and GSTIN go on the invoice too. For an unregistered buyer, the rules require the recipient's name and delivery address only where the supply is worth fifty thousand rupees or more, which no single mat of ours comes near.
So the invoice in your parcel shows the mat, the price you paid and the portion of it that was GST. Keep it; it is your proof of purchase if you ever need to raise an issue under our Returns page.
Where to find our GSTIN
Our GSTIN is printed in the footer of every page on this site, next to our trade name and our address in Kattur, Komarapalayam. Any GSTIN can be looked up on the government's GST portal, which has a search by GSTIN for exactly this purpose. We would rather you check than take our word for it; a seller who will not show a GSTIN is one to ask more questions of.
Business buyers
Studios, retreat centres and companies buying mats for gifting usually need an invoice that carries their own GSTIN. Tell us your registered name and GSTIN through the Contact page and we put them on the invoice. Our guide to buying mats for a studio covers the rest of what a bulk buyer should think about.
Why we do not print a rate here
Weavers are not tax advisers. The rate that applies to a product is set by the GST Council and can be revised; an article that quoted a figure would date quietly and might mislead you. Your invoice shows the rate actually applied to your order on the day, which is the number that matters.
Frequently asked questions
Is GST included in the price of your yoga mats?
Yes. Every price on the site, from the Sambu Jute at ₹1,699 to the Darbha at ₹4,999 at the time of writing, is inclusive of GST. You pay the figure shown, plus any shipping charge on the Shipping page, whether online once that is live or in cash to the courier.
Will I get a GST invoice with my mat?
Yes. Every order ships with a tax invoice showing our GSTIN, the mat, the price and the tax portion. If you need it to carry your business GSTIN, tell us when you order.
Can I claim input tax credit on a yoga mat?
That depends on your business and how the mats are used, and it is a question for your accountant rather than for us. What we can do is issue a proper tax invoice with your GSTIN on it, which is the document any such claim would rest on.
Does cash on delivery change the GST?
No. The tax is the same however you pay. The amount the courier collects is the invoice total, and the invoice inside the parcel is the same document you would receive with an online payment.
Browse all our mats knowing that the price under each one already includes GST; if you need an invoice in a company's name, say so through the Contact page before you order.
